Is It the TiA Challenge free to enter?

It is completely free to enter Together In Action.

When does the TiA Challenge start and finish?

The Together In Action submission process starts on 25th September 2020 and closes on the 6th of November 2020. 

Judging starts on the 7th of November and concludes on the 20th November. Finalists will be announced and celebrated on the 26th of November at the TiA Impact Summit 2020.

Is the TiA Challenge only online?

Yes, it is an online portal designed to be inclusive of global communities including regional and remote areas.

Can I enter as an individual or only as a team?

Team participation is essential. Working closely and collaborating with other people with different skill sets ensures all relevant areas are covered. 

What are the judges looking for?

Judging criteria will include the impact your submission makes on the Global Goals.

It is important to ensure your entry truly conveys the innovation and excellence that you wish the TiA judges to acknowledge.

Your commitment and passion must also be clearly evident.

What do Global Goals results mean?

TiA is aimed at creating measurable impact against the objectives that the Global Goals outline. If the entrant can identify an outcome that is innovative or ground breaking, or has provided information that would influence future direction, this is a result that would be seen as influential and worthy.

What are the Global Goals?

Entrants must align to at least one of the Global Goals. For more information on the Global Goals, visit: https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/

Do I have to stick to the word limit in supporting documents?

Yes. If you are having difficulty, we suggest you save your entry, fine-tune and synthesise your details before the close of submissions. Editing content to be more “to the point” will be beneficial in focusing the judges’ attention to the most important aspects of your project. You can provide additional information of a technical and diagrammatic tools in your attachments.

Can I email my entry?

No – all entries are a video and digital based delivery uploaded via the online portal.

Do I receive confirmation of receipt of my entry and submission?

Once registered, a confirmation will be emailed to you and will advise you of your registration and next steps.

At what stage of the project should I put an entry in?

We highly recommend registering and submitting your ideas as early as possible. You can submit your final entry at any stage. You would also be advised to review and consider any feedback provided by the experts/mentors/judges to improve your idea and your measurable outcomes before submission.

Can I start my entry and then return to it at a later date to make changes?

Yes, just make sure you save your progress along the way. You can access and modify your entry as many times as you like and up until you submit.

Once submitted am I able to make any changes?

No, you may make as many changes as you like up until you click submit. After this you will be locked out and prevented from editing your entry.

Can I re-enter the same idea if I have entered it elsewhere?

Yes, of course. As long as your entry aligns with the TiA criteria you’re welcome to enter. You would also be advised to review and consider any feedback provided by the experts/mentors/judges to improve your idea and results before submission.

Can I enter the same project for the TiA into other awards?

Yes, of course. As long as your entry aligns with the criteria of the other awards.

Do I own my IP?

Yes, absolutely.

Can anyone attend the virtual Impact Summit?

The summit is on the 26th of November and is open to the public. pay what you can tickets can be purchased here.

I’ve submitted my entry, what happens next?

Once your entry has been submitted, an email will be sent to you confirming receipt of entry. TiA will keep you up to date with any relevant information through the contact details supplied via the online portal. 

TiA has a global team of independent mentors and judges who kindly volunteer their time towards achieving environmental excellence. A diverse group of highly experienced technologists, investors, academics and industry experts with experience and expertise in evaluating startup companies, technology, products and services, and their potential impact in support of the SDGs, they are highly valued members of our team and we greatly appreciate their significant and inspirational contributions.

Can I apply to be a Judge, and what is the time commitment?

Judging is a simple and easy process that shouldn’t take any more than 3-4 hours over the course of a week (9 – 15 November 2020). It’s an entirely online process that can be done in your own time. If you would like to join our team of expert judges click here to register your interest.
